Meet Miss Kristi

Hi!  I'm Kristi Ison, and I'm so excited to be teaching Let's Play Music!  When I first saw Let's Play Music in action, I immediately fell in love.  It's fun, it's unique, it's amazing!

Discovering that learning music theory doesn't need to be boring was a revelation for me.  I was very impressed with the original and engaging way that complex musical concepts are taught to young children.  As I find out more about how children learn and about research on the plasticity of the brain, I'm even more thrilled to be able to teach Let's Play Music.  I love seeing the happy faces of children as they enjoy music!

I am married, and we have four wonderful daughters who are budding musicians themselves:  my oldest plays the piano beautifully, has composed her own pieces, and plays the clarinet in the school band and in the marching band; my second plays the clarinet in band and loves listening and singing along to music; my third is so excited to be in one of my Let's Play Music classes; and my youngest, who sings well already, gets to be in a Sound Beginnings class.

I thoroughly enjoy playing the piano, singing, and teaching music.  Having a strong musical foundation is such a benefit in so many aspects of life!

If you've never seen a Let's Play Music class, you are welcome to come observe one.  Just e-mail me at kristiison@aim.com to schedule a visit or to ask any questions you may have about Let's Play Music.

"The function of beauty in the education of children is to lead them imperceptibly to love, through sensory experience, what they will afterwards learn to know in its own form as an intelligible principle."  -Plato
